Currently, Hoopeston Fire Department has a roster of 16 volunteers who are on call 24 hours a day, 7days a week.
Our service area extends from the Iroquios County Line on the North, to 3850 North Road on the South.
East-West boundries are the Indiana State Line to 990 East Road. A total of 65 square miles.

Hoopeston Fire Department - A Brief History
- Organized in 1880 with George H. White serving as the first Chief.
- The first motorized truck was purchased in 1920. Before 1950, the fire trucks were housed at
several different auto dealers and garages. In 1949-1950 Hoopeston Fire Department members
built a two-bay building at Market and Seminary Streets. This is the present day Station #1.
- In 1957, the department built one bay adjoining the old waterworks building on West Main Street.
This is presently Station #2.
- The rescue squad was organized in 1961, which was responsible for all ambulance servicein conjuction
with Hamilton-Orr and Wood Funeral Home until the 1980's. The Fire Department still works in conjunction with
the ambulance service on all rescue calls.
- Another Bay was added to Station #1 in 1961 by the members of the Dept.
- In 1967-1969, members added the Meeting Room to the back of Station #1.
- In 2008 the department decided to add and addition on to the current station 1. The department added a new training room, handicap accessible restrooms, radio room, breathing air compressor and air bottle fill room, and laundry room, and a many new storage areas.
